Week 2 Blog – Payton Vergin

This week we got to meet the members of our group and start brainstorming for our project. I am very happy with my group and I think that we all have a lot to bring to the table with our various strengths and creative ideas. Most of the pitches that we had were about telling a story where we tried something new such as an intramural sport or cooking class. I also loved the suggestion to focus in on a non-profit organization and document our experience working with them. However the problem with that idea is that it is sometimes difficult to find an organization like that that would allow us to capture video and audio footage due to privacy reasons. Another obstacle that we ran into was that some of the events we were interested in, like bubble soccer and a wilderness survival class, were coming up too quickly and wouldn’t give us enough time to prepare. While we tossed around different ideas, we put up this blog and began drafting our team contract. We didn’t talk about the specific ways we wanted to put together the project, but I know that will come together once we have a better idea of our topic. I am really looking forward to this class and putting to use all of the skills that I have learned in the previous Vis Comm courses.
