Week 6 Blog – Payton Vergin

This week I presented my interactive project analysis. I chose https://hifly.aero/ which is an organization that specializes in wet leases for aircrafts. Although designed to advertise their fleet, the website also tells a story with different forms of media. Using an animated timeline, the web designers highlighted each year that HiFly has been in operation and what they accomplished in that given time frame. They also used animation to simulate the different aircrafts and their sustainability features. Additionally the website included videos, photos, news articles, and data visualization. From my analysis I learned that in order to create an effective storytelling project, you need a wide variety of content. As talked about previously, my group is making a spin off of Man vs. Food for our project and so we thought we would primarily use film to capture it. However now I realize that video footage won’t be enough to draw our audience in; rather we will need a collection of journal entries, graphics to show research, and even interactive animations (if we can pull that off). My group has decided to meet on Sunday night to compile research, make a list of the equipment we need to rent, and watch some episodes of Man vs. Food for inspiration. I am contributing this week by hosting the meeting at my apartment and figuring out how to better use Wix so we can use it as our portfolio for the project.
