This week I was suppose to do my interactive project presentation, but unfortunately I was sick and could not make it. However, I still did learn a lot through researching so many different websites. I noticed that an effective interactive storytelling project should be simple to navigate and easy to understand. If it has too many options or complex navigation system, the story won’t be able to be effectively delivered to the viewer because they would be too busy figuring out how to navigate the website. I also learned that a good storytelling project needs something that really captures the viewers attention, such as graphics, visuals, unique formats, or interesting music. As I was looking through different websites, if there was not something that really captured my attention when the page loaded, I tended to go on to the next one. Even if the website has a good story and becomes interesting later, it is important that it draws in viewers first.
This week, my team is going to film and do our project. We have called the restaurants to make sure they allow filming and we have also checked out most of the equipment we need. We have done as much research and developed a solid idea on what we want our outcome to look like so we just have to execute it properly. It is definitely going to be some challenges along the way as our project has a time limit, but we have a backup plan if some things do not work out. We are definitely going to have a lot of fun though!
