Week 8 Blog – Payton Vergin

This past Saturday, our group traveled to Omaha to compete in a couple different food challenges. The first stop was Bailey’s, a local breakfast joint, where Connor attempted the “Porkasaurus.” The Porkasaurus is massive plate of bacon, sausage patties and links, Canadian bacon, ham steak, and Andouille Sausage that sits atop a pile of eggs, breakfast potatoes, and toast. Connor had thirty minutes to complete the challenge, but ultimately lost his appetite before clearing his plate. It was a tough loss (we didn’t get the t-shirt), but we shared lots of laughs during the process. After that we drove over to E-Creamery, an ice cream parlor. There, Stella and Lindsay devoured the “Dundee Dozen”– a dozen scoops of ice cream in twenty minutes. The girls finished the dish with three minutes to spare and were rewarded with a t-shirt and winners bracelets for the whole team! We captured the footage from the excursion with a JVC, a DSLR, and our own phones. Unfortunately I forgot a micro SD card for the GoPro so we were unable to use that. Next time we go to complete the other food challenge, I will definitely make sure to grab that because I think the view of the eater in the challenge would be an interesting take. This week we reviewed the footage and were very happy with the results. Fortunately, the restaurants that we filmed in had excellent lighting and weren’t too noisy. My task until the next time we meet is to begin setting up our website that we will use to display our finished project. I have the most experience with web design in the group, so I am happy to put my skills to use.
