Week 8 Blog – Lindsay Elliott

With it being the midterm point of the semester, I am confident our group is on track to complete an interesting and fun final project. We have done a great job with communication thus far in being able to plan out our meeting times and when we will shoot. Our members have been very agreeable and willing, as there are so many of us to accommodate everyone’s schedule. We had a blast in Omaha last Saturday with our first two shoots and although those were not the smoothest, we got a great understanding for what we do and do not want for our next shoot. I think the only thing our group needs to work on is committing to set meetings, as although we have a plan, a few group members are struggling to make it to the meetings which is somewhat hindering us from getting done what’s needed. We have a huge amount of content from the weekend, so our next step is going to be starting to piece all that together and create our episodes, as well as creating the website. The largest and only challenge we face this far is our lack to recover the audio we recorded while in Omaha. Unfortunately, we are not able to locate it on our SD card, so we plan to rerecord everything in the audio booth that we can remember, and maybe return to Omaha for background noise shots and a couple interviews.

With us heading to Omaha on Saturday and filming our breakfast episode and our dessert episode, the entire group contributed a lot. Specifically, I shot the entire video while at Bailey’s Breakfast and Brunch while Connor attempted the pigasaurous challenge, and then participated in the second challenge at E-creamery taking on the Dundee Dozen, where Stella and I won. The only challenges we encountered for the day was our unfortunate equipment. Because we checked out on Friday, the rental office was out of newer JVC’s so we had to use the old models that we were not used to and did not produce the same quality content, and only getting the last one so we had to function off one camera, as well as attempting to use a go pro but not knowing that you needed a mini SD card. This just taught us that going forward when we need to capture content, to be prepared and go ahead of time so we are able to secure the best equipment and necessary quantity.
